An Authentic Montessori School

The Montessori Method emerges from the belief that children are naturally good, peaceful and curious and that in the context of a supportive environment, all children engage instinctively in the work of self-construction. With appropriate freedoms and the right support, children follow their interests to create rich learning experiences, form peaceful communities, and support and learn from one another. We are dedicated to the preparation of environments and ourselves to support the development of children.

An Intentionally Small Community

As an intentionally-small, community embedded learning environment, our school allows us to serve every child and family in deep and meaningful partnership with their teacher leaders.

Mission

The mission of Northern Nevada Wildflower Montessori (NNWM) is to provide a high-quality, holistic, and authentic Montessori education that integrates rigorous academic standards and emotional intelligence. Honoring all backgrounds and cultures, students are empowered to reach their full potential and become compassionate leaders, innovators, and ethical citizens who contribute positively to the world as changemakers.

Vision

We envision independent learners who are connected to their community and natural environment, equipped to make positive contributions to the world, and inspired to be lifelong learners. Our commitment is to create a learning space that elevates student leaders, encourages humility, and fosters a spirit of service, preparing them to lead with integrity and make a meaningful positive impact in the world.

Our school will serve as a hub of community engagement and partnership, where children, families, and Teacher Leaders collaborate to create an accessible, dynamic learning environment that inspires and empowers all students to thrive. We envision a joyful learning community where student voice and choice drive inquiry-based projects, hands-on learning, and the development of deep relationships with one another, their families, and the world around them.

Through parent choice in education, we empower families and cultivate a safe and enriching environment where students excel academically, develop leadership skills, and become changemakers in their communities. Through self-directed learning, hands-on experiences, and a commitment to lifelong learning, our students will become global citizens who contribute meaningfully to an interconnected and compassionate world.

Land Acknowledgment

At Northern Nevada Wildflower Montessori, we value the opportunity to learn, grow, and build community on the ancestral lands of the Great Basin Tribes. We honor the Numu (Northern Paiute), Wašiw (Washoe), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Nuwu (Southern Paiute) and recognize their enduring connection to the rivers, lakes, mountains, and valleys of this region. We honor their enduring connection to this land and recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous communities in our region. As an organization committed to equity, inclusion, and justice, we strive to act in partnership with Native communities, learn from their wisdom, and ensure that our work supports a more inclusive and respectful future for all children.
